METHODOLOGY

Methodology

This directory is an exploration aid based on registered specialties and publicly available information about skin-condition care. Medical-institution status and dermatologist counts are checked only against the official Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) Health Map. Inclusion is not a recommendation.

Current coverage

As of September 19, 2026, the directory lists 130 clinics across Seoul's 25 districts, with five to seven clinics per district.

We created a candidate list of institutions registered with dermatology as a displayed specialty using the Seoul Open Data Plaza dataset based on HIRA institution-opening records. We then reviewed public condition terms and existing research records. Each listed clinic's presence was checked on the user-facing Naver Map and Kakao Map pages.

English road-name addresses and postal codes were cross-checked with the official English Road Name Address search provided by Korea's Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The complete Korean address remains visible for floor and unit details.

HIRA verification badges

Both badges are determined solely from the HIRA Health Map. “Institution confirmed” means the clinic name and either its phone number or address match the HIRA record.

The dermatologist badge displays the specialist count reported in the clinic's HIRA details. A department listing alone is not used to award this badge. If no dermatologist is confirmed in that field, the site displays “Dermatologist not confirmed.”

The badges reproduce publicly reported HIRA data. They do not indicate certification by HIRA or a recommendation by this site. Staffing may change.

Selection method

Among institutions with dermatology shown as a registered or available specialty, clinics with a stronger cosmetic-care emphasis were given lower priority. Clinics with previously confirmed skin-condition information and clinics with longer operating histories were given priority when selecting the first five candidates in each district. Additional clinics are reviewed from districts with the fewest candidates first and are added only after their user-facing Naver Map and Kakao Map listings and official HIRA details have been cross-checked.

The order is not a ranking of care quality. Availability for a particular condition may change with staffing and scheduling, so users should confirm with the clinic before visiting.

Condition labels

Condition names are concise summaries of treatments mentioned in clinic information, map listings or public medical information. If no specific condition is publicly listed, “General skin conditions” is shown based on the registered dermatology specialty. These labels do not guarantee current treatment availability.

Ratings and sources

Ratings and review counts are checked on each map service's user-facing page rather than taken from map-service search data. Naver counts visitor reviews shown on the clinic page, while Kakao counts reviews shown on the place page. Blog-post counts are excluded.

If a map service does not publish an average rating or review count, the site displays “Unavailable” without estimating a value. Ratings and counts may change after review, so users should check each map service for the latest information and full context.

Operating principles

The site currently receives no advertising fees, listing fees, booking commissions or treatment-linked commissions from clinics. Listing order is not a ranking or recommendation.
